About Mary Molloy Solicitors
Mary Molloy Solicitors was established in 1981 and has acted for individuals and families across Ireland for more than four decades. This site is dedicated to a particular kind of client: the person who spoke up, and the person something happened to.
One Side of the Room
Most of the legal content in these areas is written for employers — compliance memos about disclosure channels, defensive briefings on harassment policies. This site is written for the other chair: the worker who reported wrongdoing and watched their career turn cold; the person navigating what happened to them at work or elsewhere; the survivor weighing whether and how to pursue a civil claim. In contested matters we act for claimants — stated openly, because in these areas you should know whose side a solicitor is on before you dial. Our one employer-facing service — building disclosure channels, harassment policies and fair investigations — is prevention work, and we never act on both sides of the same dispute.
The practice is led by Richard O’Shea, a solicitor whose employment litigation runs through exactly these files — penalisation, discrimination, harassment, dismissal — alongside civil claims work. Richard holds a Diploma in Mediation from the Law Society of Ireland, used in this practice the only way it should be: as one option among several that always remain the client’s choice, never as pressure toward a quiet settlement. Since November 2024, that principle has statutory company — the law now voids most harassment NDAs unless the employee themselves requested one, with independent legal advice the employer pays for.
How These Files Are Run
Confidentially — from the first call, whether or not anything follows it. At your pace — the law has clocks, and we will tell you honestly what they are, but the decisions are yours and pressure is not a service. On documents and dates — contemporaneous notes, preserved messages and clean timelines decide these cases, and building that record is the first practical work of every file. And with honest arithmetic — what a claim is realistically worth pursuing, what it will cost in money and in energy, and what the alternatives look like, before any proceedings issue.
